ONU sought a new model for affinity-based housing for its campus with the flexibility to adapt to changing ocupancy needs. Designed to promote extended learning, socialization, and individual indentity, the Affinity Housing Village provides operational flexibility by separating chapter functions and living accommodations. Each chapter house has its own identifiable architecture and dedicated front yard, and forms the perimeter of the village green space. The chapter houses are connected to the residence halls, which are designed for maximum efficiency. The village culminates at the prominently positioned commons building where daily life, shared activities, and important social events are supported.
