The station is organized to minimize response times from all spaces and to separate public from private circulation. A three-story tower creates a civic presence for the facility and is positioned to provide an architectural transition between the firehouse and the apparatus bays. A small plaza in front of the tower provides a place for pedestrians to stop and watch training activities. All fire-fighting and safety apparatus are parked on the apron for Saturday morning inspections and cleaning, creating an additional opportunity for neighbors to informally interact with the firefighters.
