The Transfusion Medicine Core Laboratory, part of the Department of Clinical Pathology, exists to provide adequate amounts of safe blood in a timely manner for patients of the Cleveland Clinic.
The transfusion service offered by The Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest in the world, dispensing over 143,000 units of blood and blood components. Major vascular surgery, high-risk obstetrics, trauma, and transplants are supported without restriction 24/7, 365 days a year.
